France, Spain wildfires: Climate change increasing frequency, intensity of extreme weather events
The fires tearing through forests in southwest France, around the region of Bordeaux, and in central Spain around the capital Madrid have been some of the worst in decades. Climate change which has brought successive heatwaves and a lack of rain has added fuel to the fires that are raging across parched grass and woodlands.
