Pakistan's Balochistan province is experiencing a sustained separatist insurgency, with the Balochistan Liberation Army and other militant groups carrying out increasingly coordinated attacks against security forces, civilians and critical infrastructure. Violence has intensified in 2026, while the region's strategic location, mineral resources and China-linked CPEC infrastructure give the conflict significance beyond Pakistan's domestic security.
